Shilpa Ananth is an Indian singer-songwriter based in the UAE. Having grown up listening to artists including Erykah Badu, Nina Simone, Norah Jones and a variety of classical Indian artists like Bombay Jayashri and Sudha Raghunathan, the singer’s musical compositions blend the ethereal tapestries of South India with influences from Soul, Jazz, and Electronic genres. Her captivating catalog seamlessly weaves three of the oldest Indian languages - Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi - with English, creating a musical experience that transcends cultural boundaries.

Ananth’s journey into the professional world of music began at the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she graduated with an honors degree in Professional Music. Following her time at Berklee, Ananth released her debut EP Indian Soul, receiving praise and recognition across the music industry. More recently, Ananth has recorded and performed with Grammy award-winning composers, A.R.Rahman, Bobby McFerrin, Bill Whalen, Chandrika Tandon, and Javier Limon's 'Original Quartet'. The trailblazing songstress’ career boasts significant milestones including, featuring as a vocalist on the 2021 Grammy-nominated album 'ONA' by Thana Alexa, as well as being an opening act for internationally renowned jazz musician, Corey Henry and Afro-Jazz band, The Balimaya Project.

In recognition of her musical excellence and artistic prowess, Ananth was the recipient of the ’Best Independent Artist’ at the Blue Rhymez Entertainment Honorary Awards in 2020 and the winner of the Independent Shorts Awards’ ‘2023 Platinum Award for Best Music Video’ for her song ‘The Search’. Further, she has been bestowed with prestigious grants, including the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Women’s Fund for Media, Music, and Theatre in 2020, as well as the Music Grantee 2020 from the Café Royal Cultural Foundation in New York.

Ananth’s magnetic performances have enchanted global audiences as she has toured extensively with The Berklee Indian Ensemble, Women of the World, the 'Bollywood Boulevard’ musical production, and Serbian female vocal group 'ROSA', and has performed at several prestigious venues worldwide, including The Boston Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center New York, Apollo Theatre, The John F. Kennedy Center, The Louvre Abu Dhabi and The Piano Man Jazz Club in India.

Having recently finished touring India in August 2023, Shilpa Ananth has successfully garnered a dedicated fanbase through her enchanting live performances, vibrant persona, and authentic musical storytelling. Her unique ability to fuse cultural elements from the East and the West, along with her emotive vocal delivery and avant-garde music videos have also captured critical acclaim and admiration from many popular publications, including Rolling Stone India, Vogue Magazine, and the UK's BBC Radio 1Xtra. In September 2023, Ananth released her much-anticipated second album titled REPRODUCTION, solidifying her position as a true artist of global resonance.
